Knowledge and Skills for Service
Department of Distance Education
The Department of Distance Education was created at the inception of the merger into a University three institutions namely. ITEK, UPK, and UNISE in 2003. The sections in the department include:
- Student support
- Student tutoring/facilitation
- Examinations and coursework section
The department currently runs the following programmes:
- Diploma in Primary Education, External (DEPE)
- Diploma in Special Needs Education, External (DSNEE)
- Bachelor of Education Primary, External (BEPE)
- Bachelor of Special Needs Education, External (BSNEE)
The running of these programmes is done in collaboration with the coordinating centers (PTCs) spread throughout the country. The PTCs have a Team Leader representing the University and overseeing the running of the center’s activities during the face to face residential sessions. These centers and their respective Team Leaders include:
