Kyambogo University is a public university, established in 2003 following the merger of the former Institute of Teacher Education Kyambogo (ITEK), Uganda Polytechnic Kyambogo (UPK), and Uganda National Institute for Special Education (UNISE). The University Campus is located on Kyambogo Hill in the capital city, Kampala. Kyambogo University is the second largest university in Uganda with more than 20,000 students.

1.           JOB TITLE:          DEPUTY BURSAR – PROJECTS, BUDGETING

AND CAPITAL DEVELOPMENT (1 VACANCY)

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

  • To ensure efficient and effective financial management of projects undertaken by the University and to develop appropriate strategies for budgeting and monitoring all different operations of the University.
  • To ensure efficient and effective management of payroll and timely payment of salaries and wages.

MAIN FUNCTIONS

  1. Develop appropriate strategies for budgeting and monitoring all the revenue and expenditure relating to capital development projects and operational activities.
  2. Ensure timely preparation of corporate budget and annual budget by consulting and coordinating all Deans of Faculty, Directors of School and Heads of Departments.
  3. Compile and analyse financial information to prepare entries to accounts such as cash books entry journals ad general ledger accounts.
  4. Ensure timely preparation and production of payroll.
  5. Ensure timely and accurate payment of salaries and wages.
  6. Review all financial transactions to ensure they are properly documented in accordance with accounting policies and procedures.
  7. Ensure the analysis of financial information on assets, liabilities and capital development projects to ensure that balance sheet, surplus and loss statements and other reports to summarize current and projected financial position are prepared.
  8. Audit contracts, orders, and vouchers and preparing reports to substantiate individual transactions prior to settlement.
  9. Ensure proper maintenance of financial information system to cover general ledger, job costing as well as a fixed assets management register for documenting acquisition, maintenance, valuation, depreciation, capitalization, replacement and disposal of assets.
  1. Ensure the reconciliation of all income statements against expenditure to ensure that records of income, creditors and debtors are completed at the end of each month.
  2. Review analysis of activities, costs, operations and forecast data to determine the progress of each project against budget.
  3. Prepare each project against budget.
  4. Prepare monthly and quarterly financial reports.
  5. Assist the University Bursar in preparing final accounts.

MAIN FUNCTIONS

  1. Project and promote the University image to the people and students in various institutions and schools.
  2. Oversee the development of programs to be placed in the Mass Media that will reflect the contribution of the University and its achievements in the provision of higher education.
  3. Oversee preparation and production of information about the University’s programs and activities through newsletters, bulletins, press releases and other publications
  4. Market the University programs through advertisements, exhibitions, radio and television talks, shows, and manuals or bulletins and conferences.
  5. Coordinate arrangements and preparations for University functions such as graduations.
  6. Provide feedback to Management on the opinion of the public about the University.
  7. Respond to public complaints about the University activities in accordance with the University’s communication strategy.

MAIN FUNCTIONS

  1. Maintain and organize the office in an orderly manner.

Perform accounting activities related to payments.

 MAIN FUNCTIONS

  1. Prepare Vouchers for general payments.
  2. Write general Journal Vouchers.
  3. Adjust stock cards using journal vouchers.
  4. Posting stock cards using information from requisition sheets/issue notes.
  5. Charge coding payment voucher.
  6. Perform any other official duties as may be assigned by the University Bursar.

7.  JOB TITLE:  LABORATORY TECHNOLOGIST (1 Vacancy)

PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

To manage the Medical Centre laboratory services and carry out specialized analysis for disease diagnosis, treatment, prevention and control of epidemics, and research.

MAIN FUNCTIONS

  1. Plan and budget for laboratory services in the Medical Centre.
  2. Participate in investigations of epidemic disease outbreaks.
  3. Participate in collection, handling, and analyzing specimens brought for investigation in the laboratory.
  4. Carryout laboratory analysis, interpreting results and submitting reports to the clinicians.
  5. Requisition and account for laboratory equipment, materials.
  6. Compile and submit reports to the Director Health Service.

KEY OUTPUTS

  • Planning and budgeting for laboratory activities carried out.
  • Laboratory investigations for the identification of epidemic disease outbreaks carried out.

Kyambogo University Convocation started in 2003 when Kyambogo University was established by The Universities and other Tertiary Institutions Act Instrument, 2003 as Amended. The Convocation comprises of the Alumni and the Staff of Kyambogo University as well as the affiliated institutions.It was officially established on 13th December 2003 when the first General Assembly was held.

To achieve its mission and strategic goals, Kyambogo University Convocation seeks to fill the position of Executive Secretary.

Job Title:                        Executive Secretary.

Responsible to:               Chairperson Convocation.

Terms of employment:    Contractual Appointment for two (2) years Renewable upon Satisfactory Performance.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

Responsible for general office administration and management of day to day activities of the convocation.

KEY FUNCTIONS

  1. Responsible for office administration and management.
  2. Receive and disseminate correspondences, mails and other information for the Convocation office.
  3. Draft appropriate correspondences and submit them to the responsible authorities for authentication and ensure their timely dispatch.
