It is my pleasure to welcome you to the School of Education, Kyambogo University. The School has a vibrant diverse and inclusive community of teaching, administrative and support staff, students, alumni, and community partners, all devoted to making life-changing opportunities through education. Holding steadfast to its teacher education tradition inherited from the Institute of Teacher Education, Kyambogo (ITEK) since 1987 yet mounting in the modern world, the School is organised into six academic departments which include: Foundations of Education and Educational Psychology, Teacher Education and Extension, Educational Planning and Management, Curriculum, Pedagogy and Educational Media, Early Childhood and Pre-Primary Education, and Technical Teacher and Instructor Education. As we look to the future and think about the positive impact we want to continue to make through teaching, research, and community development engagement in the field of teacher education and training, educational administration, management and leadership, the role of schools of education is increasingly becoming enormous than ever before.

Accordingly, the School of Education in order to remain relevant in this ever-changing knowledge explosion era strategically offers the ensuing undergraduate and graduate programmes: Diploma in Pre-Primary Education; Diploma in Primary Education; Diploma in Technical Teacher Education; Bachelor of Pre-Primary Education; Bachelor of Education; and Bachelor of Teacher Education; Postgraduate Diploma in Education; Postgraduate Diploma in Educational Management and Leadership; Postgraduate Diploma in Pre-Primary Education; Postgraduate Diploma in Technical and Vocational Education; Postgraduate Diploma in Teacher Education; Master of Education (Pre-Primary); Master of Education in Educational Foundations; Master of Education in Policy, Planning and Management; Master of Teacher Education (Primary); and PhD in Education- by course work and dissertation respectively.

That notwithstanding, School of Education teaching, administrative and support staff are deeply committed to student success, and routinely go the extra mile in meeting student needs. We offer classes during the day, evenings, weekends, and during school holidays to meet our student schedules and preferences. Our classes are held at Kyambogo University-Main Campus, Bushenyi Learning Centre, Soroti Learning Centre, Paidha Learning Centre, Selected Government Teacher Training Institutes, and through online and hybrid formats. Students receive excellent advisory services for the timely completion of their degrees.

Kyambogo University is an exceptional place to pursue a degree in education because of the rich and diverse education settings that surround us e.g. National Curriculum Development Centre, Uganda National Examinations Board, National Council for Higher Education, Inter-University Council for East Africa, Directorate of Education Standards, Kyambogo College School, Kyambogo Primary School, Nabisunsa Girls Secondary School, Uganda Allied Health Examinations Board, Uganda Business and Technical Assessment Centre, and the Ministry of Education and Sports Headquarters. Thus, our work environment at the School of Education, in every dimension, reflects both the aspirations and unlimited opportunities in teaching and learning, educational administration, management and leadership, policymaking, and community engagement at local, national and international levels.

The Faculty is a member of the Africa-Asia University Dialogue for Educational Development (“A-A Dialogue”). The purpose of the “A-A Dialogue” is to promote a self-reliant approach to educational development by organizing opportunities for research, faculty, and student exchanges, and other activities through dialogue and collaboration among African and Asian Universities, research centres and other relevant Institutions.
