VICE CHANCELLOR’S COMMUNICATION TO THE PRESS ANNOUNCING THE 16TH GRADUATION CEREMONY

I am very pleased to welcome you to our press conference to announce the Kyambogo University 16th Graduation ceremony.

The 16th Graduation ceremony is scheduled to take place this week on Wednesday 11th, Thursday 12th, and Friday 13th December 2019 as follows;

WEDNESDAY 11th 

  1. Graduate school
  2. School of Management and Entrepreneurship 
  3. Faculty of Special needs and Rehabilitation

THURSDAY 12th 

  1. Faculty of Arts and Social sciences
  2. Faculty of Vocational studies

FRIDAY 13th

  1. Faculty of Education
  2. Faculty of Science
  3. Faculty of Engineering

During the three-day graduation period, we shall present a total of Eight thousand eight hundred ninety-two (8,892) students who have qualified for the award of Doctorates, Bachelors and Masters Degrees, Diplomas and Certificates. Out of these 4,877 are male, and 4,015 are Female. (See attached for details of faculty by Faculty)

Of these, 187 students will graduate with 1St class degrees in various programmes. The overall best performing male student is Kasaazi George William, Bachelor of Information Technology and Computing with CGPA of 4.88 out of 5.0. And the overall best-performing Females are Nantume Benardette Nakintu, Bachelor of Information Systems and Kizza Joan, Bachelor of Information Technology and computing both with CGPA of 4.83. I take the opportunity to congratulate them.

I am glad to inform you that in this 16th Graduation ceremony we will be graduating Doctorate students for the first time ever in Kyambogo University and these are Bamuwamye Micheal and Gafuma Samuel both to graduate with a Doctor of Philosophy in Food Technology. I would like to congratulate them and appreciate them for the hard work and determination to complete their Doctorates.

Previous statistics (4 years)

We have seen a tremendous increment in the total number of students graduating year after year as shown in the following statistics.

  • 15th Graduation, we had a total number of 8,173 Graduates, out of these 4,446 were Male and 3,757 were Female.
  • 14th Graduation, we had a total number of 7,304 Graduates, out of these 4,139 were Male and 3,165 were Female.
  • 13th Graduation, we had a total number of 7,078 Graduates, out of these 3,418 were Male, and 3,384 were Female.
  • 12th Graduation, we had a total of 6,479 Graduates, out of these 3,558 were Male and 2,921 were Female. 

CLOSURE OF SEMESTER I 2019/2020 AND BEGINNING OF SEMESTER II 2019/2020

I wish also to inform you that our Semester I for Academic year 2018/2019 ended yesterday on Sunday 8th December 2019 and Semester Two 2019/2020 Academic Year commences on January 11, 2020, and will end on May 10, 2020. I wish our students’ nice holidays and Merry Christmas and Prosperous New year 2020 and all our Stakeholders.
