Professor Eli Katunguka-Rwakishaya, the Vice Chancellor of Kyambogo University, has encouraged Deans and Heads of Departments to engage in research. He emphasised that research broadens perspectives, provides additional income, and boosts international recognition. He urged them to pursue research opportunities, present at international conferences, publish their findings, and increase their international visibility beyond the boundaries of Kyambogo.

The Vice Chancellor made this remark during the retreat, which brought together Deans, Heads of Departments, and members of Top Management on Thursday, 18 September 2025, at the Imperial Golf View Hotel in Entebbe. In his address, he expressed gratitude to each member for their dedication and service, which contribute to the university’s growth. He emphasised the importance of highlighting the university’s achievements.
He stated, “We are all partners in delivering the services of the university. Management facilitates the daily operations while Deans build their teams, just as Heads of Departments do.” He acknowledged that navigating daily operations can sometimes involve working with difficult individuals and emphasised the importance of collaborating effectively with them. He encouraged the formation and empowerment of committees to make decisions and manage resources effectively, thereby simplifying their tasks.
Additionally, he reminded them of their responsibility to ensure accountability and productivity among their teams. He concluded by highlighting that the purpose of the retreat was to provide a platform for open dialogue, sharing of experiences, and collaborative problem-solving. He urged everyone to contribute constructively to the betterment of the university.
