On August 24th, 2023, a delegation from the Education and Sports committee of Parliament of Uganda led by the Chairperson Hon. Twesigye John Ntamuhira and his Deputy Hon. Eng. Cuthbert Abigaba Mirembe visited Kyambogo University as they conducted an inspection on various infrastructural projects. Notably, among the infrastructural projects visited were; the Engineering and Architecture Labs, CTF building, Main Library and buildings where asbestos roofs had been replaced.

The University was commended for its commitment to enhancing its facilities which was evident in the facilities toured. The delegation acknowledged Management’s efforts in utilizing the allocated funds.

Following the tour, a brief meeting was convened to discuss the observations made during the inspection. The Director of Planning and Development Mr. Robert Batalingaya delivered a presentation that showcased the allocation and utilization of the funds earmarked for development. The committee members lauded Kyambogo University for effectively utilizing the limited resources at their disposal.

 

However, the delegation also highlighted areas requiring attention. They stressed on the importance of safeguarding the university’s property and land and called for measures to address this concern.

The Vice Chancellor Prof. Eli Katunguka provided clarity on various matters that were raised, particularly those related to student welfare and the institution’s future plans. This exchange of information further deepened the understanding between the committee members and the university’s leadership.

Kyambogo University’s commitment to development and resource utilization was commended, while opportunities for growth and improvement were also identified. This collaborative effort between academia and policymakers bodes well for the enhancement of education and sports facilities at the university and beyond.

The Chairperson Hon. Twesigye John extended an open invitation to the Kyambogo University management to visit their offices at Parliament for continued engagement and dialogue.

During the meeting, the University was represented by the Chairperson of the Council, Dr. Mary Goretti Nakabugo and the Vice Chairperson Mrs. Sarah Babirye Lubega, the Vice Chancellor Prof Eli Katunguka Rwakishaya and Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Academic Affairs, Prof. Maria G.N Musoke, Ag. University Secretary, Mr. Katongole Arthur and other members of Top Management and Deans of Schools and Faculties.
