Innovative Pathways to Inclusive Education: Towards Advancing Knowledge, Technology and Sustainable Development

Kyambogo University is happy to announce the 10th Annual Conference of the Inter-University Consortium Africa, to be hosted by Kyambogo University in Kampala, Uganda, from 5th to 7th November 2025.

Concept Note

The 10th Inter-University Consortium Africa Conference will be held under the theme:
“Innovative Pathways for Higher Education in the 21st Century: Advancing Knowledge, Technology, and Sustainability.”

The conference is timely as globally there is a concern in implementing strategic changes in the operation of education systems through curriculum development, teacher training, and assessment methods.

The conference will focus on:

  • Inclusive practices that fulfill the needs of all learners.
  • Examining ways of creating learning environments that are welcoming, supportive, and responsive to diverse learner needs.
  • Exploring mechanisms of enhancing justice, equity, and building a thriving society for humanity.

Additionally, the conference will discuss approaches to enhance and break down barriers to ensure that all learners, irrespective of their backgrounds and abilities, can access quality education and available opportunities to thrive wherever they are.

Conference Sub-Themes

Arising from the main theme, the conference will have the following sub-themes:

  • Education Institutional ICT and AI Readiness
  • Environmental and Ecological Security Stability
  • Climate Change Services and Disasters
  • Prospects of Science, Engineering and Technology in Education
  • Ensuring Agricultural Innovations for Sustainable Development
  • Indigenous Knowledge Systems for Modern Development
  • Role of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences in Education
  • Human Resource Management for Academic Productivity of Lecturers
  • Tackling Global and National Health Emergencies
  • Higher Education and Community Outreach Services
  • Mainstreaming Gender Equality in TVET Curriculum
  • Improving Legal, Business and Financial Management Services

Conference Objectives

  • To explore ways to enhance and promote equality and non-discrimination in the provision of education in educational institutions.
  • To address systematic barriers and learning obstacles among learners in educational institutions.
  • To explore possibilities of creating learning environments that are supportive in building a democratic society.
  • To analyze practical mechanisms for improvement of teacher training avenues.
  • To consider best practices in reviewing existing assessment methods for quality education.

Target Audience

  • Policy makers and government representatives promoting inclusive education.
  • Educational professionals – educational administrators, teachers.
  • Experts and researchers.
  • Researchers and scholars in the education field.
  • Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) and Civil Society Organizations interested in education.
  • Community stakeholders – funding agencies, leaders, mobilisers.
  • Students and early career persons interested in inclusive education.

Call for Submissions

We receive:

  • Academic papers reporting on research findings and theoretical developments.
  • Joint proposals and research done in collaboration with students, experts, and mentors in inclusive education both locally and internationally.
  • Poster presentations with content on inclusive education.

Submissions should align with one or more of the conference sub-themes.

Submission Guidelines

  • Abstracts: 300–500 words, including title, author details, and key words.
  • Full Papers: 4000–6000 words, adhering to the APA 7th edition format.
  • Posters: 1-page summary outlining methodology and key insights.

Important Dates

  • Abstract Submission Deadline: 30th September 2025
  • Notification of Abstract Acceptance: 15th October 2025
  • Conference Registration Opens: 17th October 2025
  • Full Paper Submission: 25th October 2025
  • Registration Closes: 31st October 2025
  • Conference Dates: 5th – 7th November 2025

Conference Fee

  • Physical Presenters: USD 80 / UGX 250,000
  • Students: USD 30 / UGX 100,000
  • Online Presenters: USD 30 / UGX 100,000

Note: Conference fees will cover the costs of break tea/coffee, lunch, and conference materials. Travel, accommodation, and other logistical arrangements are at the cost of the guests.

Conference Outcomes

  • Proceedings and conference report summarizing key insights, policy recommendations, and practical steps to be taken.
  • Networking opportunities to strengthen further collaboration and partnership.
  • Continued engagement on strengthening the Consortium collaboration and impact.
