H.E. Michael Lotem, the Israel Ambassador to the Republic of Kenya has paid a courtesy visit to Kyambogo University in a bid to strengthen Kyambogo University – Israel collaboration in Agro Business studies.

He also noted that it’s his first time to see a university with a program to rehabilitate people with special needs. He added that Israel supports people from carpenters to technological Engineers. The Ambassador also stated that he is going to engage players in the Uganda’s financial sector to negotiate terms of loans acquisition for farmers and young agro-business entrepreneurs to lessen the burden of collateral and high-interest rates.

He said Israel Ministry of Foreign Affairs has a small bag to support some worthy causes which are in line with the Agro Business sector.  He said the collaborations can begin with arranging lectures from Israel such that students can benefit with hands-on experience. We can begin small and see what we can do.

Speaking at the event, Prof Eli Katunguka, the Vice Chancellor welcomed the Ambassador and his delegation and his support towards Agro business. The Ambassador promised to support Prossy Tumuhimbise, a  Kyambogo University alumina who underwent an agribusiness apprenticeship in Israel in 2017 and now owns a Poultry Farm. The collaboration between Kyambogo University and Israel is already bearing good fruits in advancing agribusiness studies and so we will follow up. Prof Katunguka added.
