Kyambogo University participated at the 3rd Edition of the AAPG Reservoir Modelling Challenge 2026, hosted by Makerere University’s American Association of Petroleum Geologists Student Chapter on Friday, 10th April, held under the theme “Quantifying Uncertainty at a Technical Level,” the competition brought together three universities, Kyambogo University, Makerere University, and Nkumba University, with a total of five teams in what proved to be an intense and highly technical ‘single-presentation’ contest.
The Guest of Honor, Mr. Denis Ariko, the Manager- Subsurface at the Petroleum Authority of Uganda, graced the event with remarks that underscored the critical importance of reservoir modelling expertise in Uganda’s advancing oil and gas sector. Each of the five teams delivered a single technical presentation before a panel of industry judges, with performances evaluated on technical accuracy, depth of analysis, and the ability to quantify uncertainty at a professional level.
