The MasterCard Foundation works with visionary organizations to enable young people in Africa to access dignified and fulfilling work.
While meeting the Vice Chancellor Kyambogo University, Prof. Phil Cotton who was leading the team from The MasterCard Foundation said that they were focusing on Human Capital Development by finding ways to support the communities. He said they were expanding their programs through partnerships, education collaboration where young people can access Education. They wish to have a world where everyone has the opportunity to learn and prosper.
The MasterCard Foundation brings together the private sector, donors, young people, and civil society – to create effective systems and infrastructures, supportive policies, and an environment where young people can find work and entrepreneurs and small enterprises can succeed and grow.
The Dean Faculty of Special Needs and Rehabilitation at Kaymbogo University, Dr. Lawrence Eron highlighted possible areas of Partnership with the Foundation as;
Scholarships focusing on:
- Students with disabilities
- Students studying disability related courses
- Female students
Capacity Building in inclusive teaching, learning and ICT focusing on:
- Students in the University
- Professors and Lecturers in Universities
- Instructors in Technical and Vocational Institutes
- Technical staff in the Disability Support Center – sign language, mobility and sighted guides, adapted ICT technicians
- Inclusive e-Learning management system
Support to Disability Support Center
- Equipment and devices related to disability
- Technology and software
- Staff Capacity to train and use the above
Inaccessible Physical Build Environment
- New accessible lecture and laboratory rooms
- Refurbish existing workshop
- Installation rehabilitation technologies
Outreach Activities
- Partner with surrounding schools to build the capacity of children with disabilities
- Partner with Organizations of Persons with Disabilities
- Partner with Ministries and Civil Society Organizations
