The State Minister for Higher Education, Dr. JC Muyingo, has urged university officials to avoid conflicts of interest and focus on strong, unified leadership to achieve their goals.

Representing the Minister of Education and Sports, Janet Kataha Museveni, Dr. Muyingo emphasized the need for government empowerment of top institutional councils to effectively manage their education systems.

Dr. Muyingo made these remarks while presiding over the induction ceremony of the Kyambogo University Council.

His call to action highlights the importance of effective leadership and governance in higher education institutions.

“I call upon the newly inaugurated sixth Council members of the University to leverage their diverse experiences and backgrounds to drive the institution’s growth and success” Muyingo stated

He added , “ I commend the role of Council in providing strategic direction, formulating policies, and creating a conducive environment for the university’s continuous improvement”.

The Vice Chancellor of Kyambogo University, Professor Eli Katunguka, appealed to the government to allocate more resources to the institution. This call for increased funding is driven by the university’s growing student population, which has created a pressing need for improved infrastructure and other structural reforms.

Prof.Katunguka emphasized that the university’s expansion requires a corresponding increase in funding to ensure that the institution can continue to provide quality education and services to its students.

The university council is set to deliberate on resolutions aimed at boosting various programs, including technology, research, and other projects.
