Scholarships for a 5-months study abroad at Hochschule Mainz, University of Applied Sciences

Call for Applications

Kyambogo University and Hochschule Mainz, University of Applied Science, School of Business (HMBS) will award

  • 2 scholarships to first-year students of the MBA program for a 5-months study abroad stay at HMBS between September 2022 and January 2023.
  • 2 scholarships to first-year students selected from the master programmes in the School of Management and Entrepreneurship for a 5-months study abroad stay at HMBS between March 2023 and July 2023. The master programmes from which the applicants are expected are Master of Business Administration (MBA), master of organizations and public sector management (GMOP) and Master of Science in Procurement and Supply chain.

Applications deadline is (15th March, 2022.

The complete application must be submitted in electronic form to the Kyambogo University’s coordinator of the partnership (hmugisha@kyu.ac.ug, international@kyu.ac.ug and to the programme director in Mainz (ma.ib@hs-mainz.de).

Eligibility and Admission Requirements:

Students are eligible for the scholarship if currently they are enrolled in the first year of the MBA or other related Masters programs of SOME, Kyambogo University.

The application documents to be submitted are

  • high school certificate translated in English or German,
  • the complete Bachelor degree certificate with the Diploma Supplement; in absence of a Diploma Supplement, the degree certificate must be translated into German or English
  • transcript issued by Kyambogo University with a complete list of all modules taken and passed in the first semester of your master programme
  • CV
  • motivation letter of no more than 500 words
  • a letter of recommendation issued by a staff member (lecturer) of Kyambogo University
  • employer’s statement about candidate’s leave (if candidate is employed)
  • proof of proficiency in English (TOEFL or IELTS if available)
  • proof of proficiency in other languages (if available)

The selection criteria are:

  • academic performance (e.g. grade point average (GPA) of the previous studies)
  • proficiency in English
  • proficiency in other languages, especially German
  • motivation and social skills
  • Willingness to take a one semester course in International Business

According to these selection criteria, a committee of staff members of both institutions will make a preselection from the students who are eligible to the program and invite the preselected students to an interview. The final selection will be made by the committee from the selection criteria and the result of the interview.

The selected students are responsible to make sure that they meet the German visa and health insurance requirements.
