I wish to congratulate all fresh students for having been selected from thousands of applicants who applied to be admitted to this prestigious University. You must be thankful to God for this opportunity. On behalf of Management, I welcome you to Kyambogo University and I wish you a successful academic journey.
The Office of the Dean of Students has organized an orientation week from Monday 5th to Friday 9th August 2024 where you will have the opportunity to interact with officers from different Faculties/Schools, Departments and Units. These officers will provide you with the required service information to make your stay at campus comfortable.
You should be security cautious at all times and report to the authorities whenever you notice any security threat. At the University, you have a lot of freedom with no close monitoring by your parents/guardians or lecturers. However, this freedom must be enjoyed carefully to avoid traps such as sexual misconduct, excessive alcohol consumption and hooliganism, which may affect your academic journey and cut your life short. The Office of the Dean of Students is always open to offer you professional counselling services whenever you need help.
The University no longer provides meals to students. This service was outsourced to catering service providers in the University dining halls and provides meals at a subsidized price.
On the 10th August 2024, the continuing students will be reporting to campus. This will increase the population of people at campus and its surrounding. You should be well acquainted with the University facilities and processes to avoid conmen.
Enrolment on ACMIS.
All students are required to enroll on Academic Management Information System (ACMIS) at the beginning of every semester. Enrollment is a free service on the system and must be done by every student as soon as the semester begins. Enrolling bills you and thus informs you of the amount of fees that you are required to pay during a particular semester.
Teaching and learning.
The Academic Registrar released the academic calendar for this semester. The calendar was circulated to all Faculties/Schools/Departments and can be viewed at the notice boards in the respective Departments, Faculties/Schools and the University website.
Teaching and learning for all students will commence on Monday 12th August 2024 for a period of thirteen (13) weeks before the examinations are administered starting on 25th November to 8th December 2024. Your respective Faculties/Schools have prepared teaching timetables to guide your lectures and these will be posted to your portals and displayed on the notice boards of your respective Faculties/Schools or Departments.
The University has good infrastructure to support teaching and learning. There are computer laboratories in all Faculties/Schools with access to wireless internet. These facilities and internet are availed to promote the academic function i.e. teaching, learning and research. I encourage you to aim at academic excellence by attending lectures, participating in academic group discussions, doing all course works and examinations.
Payment of University fees.
According to the University fees Policy, all students are required to pay tuition and functional fees with in the first six weeks of the semester and register. Timely payment of fees enables the University to effectively provide the required services to students.
In my communication dated 22nd July 2024, I encouraged ALL continuing students who did not Enrol, Register or clear all fees balances for the previous semester/ have any outstanding fees to pay by 15th August 2024. I wish to remind you that FAILURE to comply will result in cancellation of your semester examination results and blocking your portal. Utilize this period to ensure that all fees balances are fully paid and you register to avoid inconveniences.
Central Registration.
The Academic Registrar is preparing a program for central registration. This program will be circulated to you once it is finalized. I encourage all students to register during this central registration period.
Conclusion.
The University is dedicated to maintaining a favorable environment to support your pursuit of academic excellence and promote the values of the University. We call upon you to adhere to the university rules and regulations and be disciplined. Concentrate on your studies to achieve your goals of being at the University. Be informed that every assessment attempted contributes to the final award.
