Kyambogo University is excited to announce the fourth edition of its STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) Festival, an initiative pioneered by the Faculty of Science. This event is scheduled from April 7th to 11th, 2025, at the Kyambogo University Central Teaching Facility (CTF). The STEAM Festival is a dynamic platform for showcasing and disseminating groundbreaking research innovations and pedagogical interventions from various faculties. Originally focused on Science, Technology, Engineering, Agriculture, and Mathematics, the festival has expanded to include Vocational Studies, Special Needs Education, Humanities, Social Sciences, Business Studies, Art, and Industrial Design. This evolution reflects Kyambogo University’s commitment to inclusivity and comprehensive knowledge dissemination.

According to Prof. Ediriisa Mugampoza, the Dean of the Faculty of Science, the festival acknowledges existing partnerships and fosters collaborations with stakeholders to tackle societal challenges through scientific advancements. “Building on the success of previous editions, the 4th STEAM Festival will feature various activities designed to enrich participant experiences and broaden the festival’s impact. All faculties and schools within Kyambogo University will showcase their scientific, technological, and artistic discoveries through exhibitions, performances, and discussions. Selected schools, particularly those that participated in previous editions, will be invited to share their stories, fostering a culture of knowledge exchange and collaboration.” Prof. Mugampoza added.

This year’s theme, “Demystifying Science, Technology, and Innovation for Community Development,” highlights the importance of bridging the gap between knowledge creators and consumers, emphasising the university’s pivotal role in community development. The overarching goal of the festival is to cultivate an appreciation for the vital role of science and technology in community development. The festival aims to achieve several objectives through engaging exhibitions, discussions, and interactive sessions. These include inspiring future innovators by encouraging young minds to pursue careers in science, technology, and innovation, empowering researchers to address public concerns through solutions-oriented research, enhancing access to scientific knowledge, and promoting policy-focused research to drive evidence-based policymaking.
